And now it is February

Sheesh! I have been so bad about this blogging thing lately. Maybe it is all the life changes or maybe it is just how life will be for here on out. Either way, I have a bunch of pictures and a bunch of life events that I should document so I am going to try to update a little.

Christmas was great this year. We saw lots of family on both sides, including some to-be aunts. Hooray for two weddings in April! We played, we ate and we had a merry time!

Then life got real because, Jimmy got a job!!!! In my last post I was all "life is hard and we are struggling with things..." and now he has had a job for over a month.  Life isn't perfect, but is it is so much better than it was and we are SO grateful for all the support we continue to receive from family and friends. Jimmy is working for a great place and he loves the job. He gets to work with a lot of interesting people and he feels like there is so much more room for growth.

We have made a few adjustments since this job. First things first, we sold the Dodge. It was time. Repairs kept showing up and we were feeling like we were well exceeding its worth. We got some money for it, more than we had hoped and then we said a hearty goodbye to what was a great starter car. It took us across the US and up and down the Eastern coast many a time. It was the car that brought home our children. We are grateful it lasted this long. But now we are a one car family again.

Because of this adjustment we are now dropping off and picking up Jimmy at the train station. It is only 10 minutes away, so it is really not a big deal. The hardest part is waking the kids up in the mornings. The solution to this dilemma is to always have something for them to snack on in the car. Lately I have been freezing some muffins. So another change, but we are making it work.

Once Jimmy gets on the train he has an 1+ ride to work. In future we will try to move closer to work, but with rent so high and our current place being so convenient for other reasons, we are staying put a little while.

Those really are the big life changes for now. I guess the next big one is Coopster's arrival. As of now I am 37+ weeks pregnant. Yikes! It feels like he/she could come any day, but at the same time I am totally not in the same mode of having a baby as before. Maybe it is because normally we move and then we just sit tight until something happens. This time we are not moving and we have other things like a job and two other kids keeping us busy. I am taking some time off from teaching so hopefully that will help us transition as best as we can into a three child family. Here's hoping anyways.

But onto the real meat of these posts -- pictures!

So I am going to do what I normally do, just a little description of the picture. Most of these are in some sort of chronological order.

This is Fireman Sam. He got this outfit for Christmas and it has been worn on many occasions outside of normal playtime. He is a fan of firetrucks.

Here are the kids all geared up for a light dusting of snow. Can you tell we have been spending too much time indoors?! They could hardly contain their excitement for going outside for just a little bit of snow.

Mid January we took the kids to the Boston Aquarium. We had planned to go last year, but looking at the ticket prices kind of made us change plans. Then we found out Jimmy's job has some great discounts on Boston museum prices. To make things even better we took the train into Boston (which was the highlight for Sam) and then walked to the aquarium. It was a double win because neither Jimmy nor I are city drivers and the kids loved riding the train. The aquarium was a hit too!

And then the heat wave hit and we didn't have snow anymore, but we still went outside. And Sam wore his Fireman Sam outfit, just because he could.

And then he climbed a dirty snow pile and it took him 10 minutes to get down.

But finally, just this past weekend we got some real winter snow. The first storm we probably got 6 inches and last night another 5 inches. I know this is still not crazy amounts, but at least the kids could do some real sledding. Lucy used the saucer and had the best of times. She could go up and down the hill by herself and she giggled the entire time. Sam liked it until he did a face plant in the snow. Then he wanted to go home.

And here is the castle that the kids built TOGETHER! Why is this such a big deal?! Because lately there has been quite a bit of drama between the two when it comes to playing together nicely. It kind of stresses me out. Mostly because I am relying on some good quality sibling time while I am tending to infant Coopster. They have good and bad days (let's be real -- so do I!) but I think we will survive.

And that is life for us right now. We are awaiting the newest addition, trying to stay sane in and outside and keeping busy, like we always do! Hope the next post includes some pretty cute baby pictures...unless I get all motivated and write another post within a week or so....
