I think one of the cutest things about Lucy being a big sister is that she loves to see Sam first thing in the morning. And she doesn't greet quietly or half-heartedly. She comes into wherever he might be a happily declares "Hi Sammy, how you doing? You doing fine?!" It is awesome.
She also insists that he stand up and dance when we are listening to music or when we are singing her a song before bedtime. Poor little guy gets the brunt of it sometimes. But he takes it like a champ and thankfully is becoming a lot more happy.
Not that he is on any sort of schedule but he more or less does a eat-play-sleep sort of pattern. I can handle that if I am not half asleep or Lucy is in a good mood. He is a little finicky sometimes in the middle of the night. I would prefer he fall right back to sleep, but sometimes he just wants to wiggle instead of sleep. In general we are doing just fine.
Sammy is almost 11 weeks. He is very interested in his index finger and thumb on his right hand. We will see if that leads to the intense love of thumb that his sister still clings to. He is smiling more and more and in general will go to other people as long as he is not hungry or tired. That leaves about a 20-30 minutes (in his cycle) time span for me to hand him off. If we are lucky he is happy for an hour. I don't think I mentioned his 2 month stats, but in general is very healthy. He is over 12 lbs and is 24 inches long. He is big and we love him.
Lucy is one sassy little lady. Lately she has become very bossy. "Mommy hold me! Mommy give me that! Mommy stand up and dance!" We try to remind her to use her nice words (please, thank you, etc..). It doesn't always work.
She is continuing to try potty training. Just recently she has discovered that she can get on and off the potty by herself. Although I am not ready to leave her alone with the toilet paper. And washing her hands it still out of reach. But she is coming along quite nicely. Once again, we are not rushing it and we are trying not to get too frustrated with her when she has accidents. Thus far all her bowel movements except for one, have been accidents. We figure that is quite a bit harder to coax. Though she always has one when she is wearing a bathing suit, near the slide at Grandma Coop's or at the library. The library trigger is uncanny. It doesn't matter what library just as long as there are books.
Lastly she is a lot more adventurous during her naps. Before we could leave her for her naps and she would not leave her bed until we came to get her. Now in general that is where we will find her, but that doesn't mean she has stayed there the whole time. Evidence of that -- once we found her covered in rash cream. It was also all over her fan. Twice we found her in her bathing suit. And just the other day I found her in the dress we bought for Annie's wedding and red tights. I couldn't believe she got the tights on by herself. Which is another thing she says all the time. "I'm going to do it, by myself." And imagine the "by myself" in a southern accent, because that is how it sounds to me. I laugh and cringe every time she says it.
And there you have it. Our kids the craziest, but the greatest!
