happenings...

Things have been going on around here. Maybe not super exciting things, but things none the less.

A week back we went to Nelson Old Home day. That was crazy. Jimmy had to take another test so Andrea her two boys and Sam, Lucy and I made the journey to Nelson center. The boys jumped some frogs, Lucy looked for treasures in the scavenger hunt, and we all had some bbq chicken. It was a fun, but crazy.

We also went to the beach. We spent more time driving than at the beach, but that is okay. Sam is not ready for lengthy beach time, and Lucy thought the water was actually a little too cold.

Sam and Lucy are both getting to be very big people. Lucy started some low-key potty training this last week. She is doing well. We still have to remind her, but in general she is not have too many accidents. That was after the first day when we didn't know what we were doing and she had 4 accidents in a half and hour.

Sam is just one cute little guy. He is becoming more pleasant these days. He actually has a happy time where he smiles and coos at people.

Last night we ran a one mile race with my family, and just today we went to the park with my sister, brother and nephews. It was fun. Hopefully we can find something exciting to do this week.

Even though I didn't mention it in this post remind me to talk about Lucy's wardrobe after her naps. They are memorable. Until then, happy Tuesday and happy birthday to our favorite curly-headed six year old Alice!

Our little chef

Lucy loves cooking! Not only does she ask to watch the Food Network but she also acts out cooking shows when she is eating. It is awesome!

We took Lucy to the store the other day to pick out a birthday present. She picked some chef attire. It is very cute. She was now ready to cook with mommy and daddy.

A days later Lucy made the "sauce" for our burgers at dinner. It was thai inspired with peanut butter being the primary ingredient. Lucy was very proud of herself. Today she made cupcakes for uncle Joe's birthday. They are vanilla. This afternoon, after her nap we will decorate them. It is so much fun to see how excited she gets when we talk about cooking. We can only assume she will be the next Iron Chef...

Blessing

After the week of weeks we decided while there were still a few relatives still in town that we would bless dear Samuel. Too bad I didn't get any pictures from the day. I am sorry....

Here is a picture with the blanket that we blessed him in. It is the same one we used for Lucy. His outfit was dirty before church was through. He has a bit of reflux so most of his clothes don't make it through the day without some spit up.

But the blessing was beautiful despite the fact that Sam wailed during the whole thing. There were two other babies being blessed as well. Sam was the loudest. It was quite memorable. Apparently Jimmy almost burst out laughing while he was doing the blessing. Sam stared right into his eyes and screamed. It was like he was saying "daddy return me to my mommy! Right now!" And as soon as he finished the blessing Jimmy did just that, and Sam calmed right down. Did I mention how much of a mommy's boy Sam is? It is nice most of the time, but when I need to shower or go to the bathroom Sam doesn't like it one bit. He will learn that there are many people who love him.

We are enjoying a week of mostly nothing to do. Well, I say that, but Jimmy is working on cover letters and job applications. And we are going up to Nelson to spend some time with my family. We haven't seen them a lot this summer.

Here is a picture of Sam in the moby wrap. I tried it with him facing out today because that is how Lucy preferred it. He likes to face inwards and snuggle right up to me instead. Amazing how different children can be.

He looks a little uncomfortable....too bad when I turned him around he was asleep in 2.5 seconds.

What a week!

Folks we have had quite a week...

Jimmy is officially D.O.N.E. taking the Maine bar. He got back on Wednesday night. He may not know exactly how he did, and he thought it went pretty well...but regardless he feels amazing. I feel some relief as well. It feels like the first time we can really rest since he started law school.

Joe, Jimmy's brother returned from his mission later that night. Lucy loves him! She snuggled right up to him this morning when she came downstairs from her room this morning. He is quite a bit of fun.

Annie got married yesterday. It was a lovely affair. We were so excited to be a part of it. Everyone looked wonderful and most importantly Annie and Tod were smiling from ear to ear. Besides the actual wedding I think the highlight was watching the three brother dancing with all the little girls. Lucy was pretty serious about her dancing. Her dance moves are quite memorable. Here are some pictures from the event.

Sam did a good job supervising while others got ready for the wedding.

His spiffy bow tie and vest.

Cute girls!

We compared babies. Sam is as big as his second cousin. She is at least 2 months older!

And Lucy was running...

The happy couple!

He was one tired, cute baby!

Today we went to breakfast with many of the family members in town. Now we are relaxing at home while some people are at the Red Sox game. It is very quiet and I love it.

I have all sorts of fun goals for the next few weeks. Said goals include the beach and potty training (this is not fun, but it is important). We haven't done much up to this point. Studying for the bar and having a baby inhibit large outings. We will see what we can squeeze in before Jimmy gets a job.
