Happy cuteness day!

Here are our costumes. Did you figure it out? Jimmy and I are chefs and Lucy is Remy from the Disney movie Ratatouille. We thought it would be appropriate given our love for cooking and Disney movies. And turns out, it is not that difficult to sew a rat-looking costume. And now Lucy has an apron to cook with. I bet we paid about $5.00 for her costume, and we still have a lot of fabric leftover. She sure is a cute little rat!

what we have been up to...without many words

 Lucy likes to sit outside...

And she likes her spoon...mostly to chew on.

Ahhh happiness

Tummy time is becoming more frequent

Sometimes Lucy likes to play in her sleep. She is good at multi-tasking.

 Does this scare anyone else?!
And the halloween preview. I will give you a guess, it is from a Disney movie that includes one of our favorite past times. It is not perfectly accurate, but it is pretty darn cute.

Family pictures

Here are some wonderful pictures taken by a fantastic photographer from our ward. I think she did our family justice. And we didn't even need to pose. Lucy did fairly well. Thank good goodness for candid shots.

Enjoy!

Grandparents in town

We were happy to have Grandpa and Grandma Coop in town today and yesterday. Lucy loves having people around. I think she gets sick of our faces. Although when she is tired she only likes to be with Jimmy and me. It kind of evens out...

We went for a hike and ate some authentic bbq. Then we all took naps and finished the night playing some zombie fluxx.

 During the hike
After the hike...a little dazed and confused
Excited about bbq (and this big girl chair!) -- she is daddy's girl!

It was wonderful to have them in town even if it was only for one full day. We can't wait to see them and all the rest of our family at thanksgiving! Only 1 month to go...

'Tis the season of the scary...

I don't think I am a huge Halloween kind of person, but I do love me a good craft once and a while. And I am pretty excited up dressing Lucy up, so maybe Halloween will be more fun this year.

Yesterday Jimmy and I had some friends and the missionaries over for family home evening. We decorated graham cracker haunted houses, had a little spiritual thought, and ate chocolate truffle (they were supposed to be whoopie pies...epic fail!).

We had a fantastic time realizing our amazing abilities to construct graham cracker buildings. And we then we talked about the importance of scriptures and families, and all the wonderfulness of the Gospel. Side note, crumbly whoopie pies and homemade chocolate pudding with bananas and cream cheese frosting is surprisingly tasty.

 Pretty scary huh?

I learned a few lessons from this experience. 1. 2 egg whites and confectionery sugar makes the BEST glue frosting. 2. People love playing with candy. 3. Toostie rolls are good for sculpting, but it has a tendency of melting. 4. Ending a school break is always better with an a good night with firends

So happy halloween, or happy fall! Either way I LOVE this weather....

A sleeping baby is that important

Tonight was the adult session of stake conference for our church. It is a time for the area leaders to share some thoughts with all in the congregations in the surrounding area. It happened to start at 7 pm, 30 minutes after Lucy's bedtime. It would have been ideal to have a babysitter, but all the law students were out of town, and all the people we know at church were at the same meeting.

So Jimmy and I devised a plan to keep Lucy on her sleeping schedule. We arrived at the church a half an hour early and planted ourselves in a room that had a speaker connected to the main microphone. We brought the music Lucy listens to, and used it to lull her to sleep on the floor with all of her normal blankets/sleeping buddies. It took her a little longer than normal, but she did in fact sleep through the whole meeting. We listened to the whole thing, uninterrupted. And it was a delightful meeting, with messages the both Jimmy and I needed.

And when the meeting ended, we put Lucy in her car seat, ran to the car, drove home, nursed her, and put her to sleep once more. It was quite flawless. It is moments like this that make me think I might be okay at this parenting thing.

In other news, Lucy has decided the last two nights that waking up at 4 am is a lot of fun....and then I am humbled again....

But today was good for several reasons. We went to Sam's club and got some good food, I went for a 3 mile run, a rarity as of late, we played outside because the weather was so nice, and I made peach sorbet, which turns out is very easy!

So life is good, even though I feel totally incompetent most of the time.

Just can't get enough

We finally submitted to the fact that Lucy is teething and that is why is has been so grouchy. But who can't love this face?

We also realized that Jimmy is a compulsive shopper. At least now all his compulsive buys are for Lucy... Case in point: W & L winter hat! But by darn, it does look good on her.
